If you have a free Alumni Spaces website for your chapter, known as their Ensemble product, you probably received an email from them notifying you that they are discontinuing those sites effective August 1st. For those who have a free Alumni Spaces website and didn’t receive that email, I’ve included the text below for you. Look for my upcoming blog on low-cost website options to host your chapter’s site if you’re in need of a new option.

This change only impacts the free version. If you are part of a school network that provides a site for your alumni chapter, you will not be impacted by this change. †

Hi Alumni Leaders,

This summer, Alumni Spaces will be discontinuing the Ensemble product used by independent alumni groups like yours.  We’ll continue to support group sites that are a part of Symphony networks but as we focus on the needs of our alumni association partners, we need to shift resources away from the solo group sites using our free product. It’s been a long journey since we started Alumni Spaces a decade ago – from one group site in NYC to a platform of global networks powering nearly 500 alumni clubs. It’s been amazing to see how many events and accomplishments our alumni leaders have racked up over the years and we’re honored to have played a part in making it possible, thank you for your part in making it all happen. When will my site be closed? We will be archiving all AlumniSpaces.com sites on August 1, 2019. Please migrate any content you need from your site before this date. Who will this affect? You. Your site is one of those that will be affected. Unless your entire alumni association uses AlumniSpaces, your site will be archived on August 1. If your site is part of any of these school networks, you are not affected and your school’s network won’t change at all: University of MissouriUniversity of North Carolina Clemson UniversityUniversity of Oklahoma Florida State UniversityVirginia Tech University Of course if your school is not on this list and you would like to continue using Alumni Spaces or see the multitude of features only available on larger networks, we’d love to talk to your alumni association contact! What do I need to do? You will need to find a different service for your group’s website before August. If you need an export of your site content, please contact us and we’ll get you what you need. We recommend checking out services like these: SquarespaceWordPress.com Wix What happens next? Please start the planning process now by researching other platforms and setting up a new site.  We will send a reminder about this in early and late July.  If you have any questions or we can help with your migration, please let us know. If you have a custom domain pointing to our nameservers, you should be able to update them on your registrar and point to your new service without any trouble. Please contact your domain registrar for help. Thank You Thank you for the work you do for your group and the guidance you’ve given us over the years. If we can help with this transition, please let us know!
